Treasures

My mother Sarah was a lot of things: a teacher, a bit of a geek, a great cook, a costumer, a Joann's mailer extreme couponer and absurdly talented with a sewing machine.

In October of 2013, about a year after I got married, we lost her. I won't say to "the battle with cancer," because she never liked that terminology. I will say that I think God took her in October so the angels would have kickass Halloween costumes.

Now, two years and one baby later, I'm finally starting to go through her stuff. I've only just begun, but it felt like I was breaking the seal on this magically time capsule of memories and letting them escape. I decided I'd blog about the experience here so I'd have the memories written down some place, and wouldn't be paralyzed by the fear of losing them.

I'm also going to selling/donating/giving away a bunch of her stuff, since I'm nowhere near as handy with a sewing machine (yet - I hope to learn) and couldn't possibly use all her stuff in ten lifetimes. I think it would make her happy knowing things went to go homes, so this will help me keep track of that as well.
